Skylights come in various shapes and designs that make an architectural statement—which is the case with this stepped barrel vault skylight by Almamary. It was installed into a private villa in the UAE, transforming the way the house looks from the outside and how it feels on the inside. Not only does the sunlight make the indoors look bright and nicely illuminated, they also add a modern and luxurious touch.
Almamary planned, designed, manufactured, and installed this skylight into the roof safely and properly. Thanks to the team’s extensive experience, they ensured that the skylight is positioned in the right direction to ensure proper exposure to the sun without causing overheating while maintaining structural integrity as well.
The skylight is formed as a stepped barrel vault, featuring a series of curved, barrel-like sections arranged in a stepped formation, creating a layered profile that brings natural daylight into the space while adding architectural depth and visual interest.
Since skylights serve various functional benefits, the choice of material is as important as the shape and design. For this residential project specifically, Almamary’s team chose to use laminated glass, which is made by bonding two or more layers of glass together with a clear plastic interlayer. This glazing option is excellent for impact resistance, noise reduction, UV protection, and much more.
